Pedro Ferreira

Hi,

I am a PhD Candidate in Public Policy (Economics track) at Harvard University. My research interests lie at the intersection of development economics and labor economics. I am particularly interested in how workers form beliefs about the labor market, how misperceptions affect job search, and which non-pecuniary job attributes workers value. One question that especially motivates my work is why workers queue for public sector jobs. A separate strand of my research studies frictions in agricultural markets in developing countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Before starting my PhD, I worked for two years as a research fellow with Professor Eliana La Ferrara and as a research assistant for Professor Livia Alfonsi. I hold a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Brasília. I am originally from Porciúncula, Rio de Janeiro, and outside of research, I enjoy running and have been slowly learning to play Brazilian choro music.
